]]> In this episode of Masters and Millennials, Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan covers the virtues of the Call to Prayer (Adhan), the recommended times to sound it, and some of the rulings regarding it. He highlights how the Call to Prayer is a means to Allah’s pleasure, removing His anger, saving us from punishment, attracting good circumstances, and chasing Shaytan away. He encourages, as the scholars have, establishing as a practice, sounding the Call to Prayer on occasions other than for the daily prayer such as at the time of anger, when children are troubled by jinn, when a house is burning, and for safety when the traveler leaves his home. He also talks about some of the rulings regarding the Call to Prayer such as reciting it in our homes—especially now with many of us having to pray in our homes due to lockdown or restrictions—responding to the call of the one who calls to the prayer (mu’adhin) and the importance of the caller having a beautiful voice. He relates a touching incident where a young non-Muslim boy with a beautiful voice sought to mock the Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) by calling the adhan and who the Holy Prophet made one of his callers to prayer.

He highlights how the Call to Prayer is a means to Allah’s pleasure, removing His anger, saving us from punishment, attracting good circumstances, and chasing Shaytan away. He encourages, as the scholars have, establishing as a practice, sounding the Call to Prayer on occasions other than for the daily prayer such as at the time of anger, when children are troubled by jinn, when a house is burning, and for safety when the traveler leaves his home. He also talks about some of the rulings regarding the Call to Prayer such as reciting it in our homes—especially now with many of us having to pray in our homes due to lockdown or restrictions—responding to the call of the one who calls to the prayer (mu’adhin) and the importance of the caller having a beautiful voice. Lesson #1 draws on appreciating differing views and not obsessing with one correct view. A view held by one Madhab may be incorrect. However, because the scholars followed a methodology and process and applied ijtihad, deducing law from the Qur’an and Sunna, the ruling reached is a valid one even though it may be incorrect. Lesson #2 pivots on how venerable Shaykhs respect all Schools of law, to the extent that they often follow the Madhab practices of the locality when they travel. Lesson #3 reminds us of the serenity and calmness which must be afforded those engrossed in salaah. If reciting the Qur’an aloud is considered a haraam action if it disturbs them, then what about the use of cell phones in the Masjid?

In this podcast, Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan begins by reminding all of the importance of the desire to be from the people of paradise. Paradise is an abode for all those who are successful and the hellfire is a place for the disobedient and those who are unsuccessful. 

Shaykh Abdurragmaan goes on by giving a brief description of paradise and who will be its inhabitance. From the Prophetic description related by Shaykh Abdurragmaan, he explains what is meant by paradise being indescribable. He elucidates the qualities of the people of paradise as mentioned by al-Habib Zayn bin Sumayt.  

Shaykh Abdurragmaan moves on to hell-fire and giving a brief description of it and who are its people. Explaining how the believer should balance between hope and fear in regards to Allah Most High.

He goes on to emphasize to everyone the importance of us all realigning ourselves so our objectives are in a place where one will see Allah Most High quoting Imam Ghazali.

Shaykh Abdurragmaan goes on to explain that the best thing a believer will have in paradise will be the seeing of Allah Most High. Having Allah be pleased with one is of the highest rewards in paradise.

Of the greatest gifts, the Prophet  Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) was given was seeing Allah in this world. This was done on the night of Isra wal Mi’raj. Which took place with the body and soul of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace).
